The Miami University Box Office serves as the professional ticketing services provider for the greater Miami University community, providing full service ticketing for the Performing Arts Series, Department of Theatre, Department of Music ticketed events, Hamilton Artist Series, Middletown Cultural Arts Series, Lecture Series, major concerts, and numerous student organizations. As a ticketing partner with the Miami University Athletic Ticket Office, we are also able to provide tickets to certain Miami Redhawk athletic home games. The Box Office is pleased to offer ticketing services to local community organizations upon request. The Box Office partners with all promoting organizations to handle admission access but does not perform booking or artist management duties.

Standard full-service ticketing
The Box Office will provide all supplies, hardware, software, and staffing for any activities associated with ticket sales.
The Box Office will set up ticketing software to print tickets with appropriate event titles, dates, times, venues, buyer types, and prices, as arranged with organization. Both General Admission and Reserved seating configurations are accepted.
The Box Office will sell tickets by walk-up, phone, online, fax, mail, and email, maintaining consistent, posted sales hours, in a highly visible, convenient sales location.
The Box Office will accept payment for ticket purchases by cash, check, credit card (MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover), Miami University payroll deduction, student MULAA account, and departmental transfer.
The Box Office will capture name, address, and phone number of every ticket purchaser, with ability to provide this information in seating reports, and numerous marketing reports, creating a database available for organization use and a ticketing history of each customer.
A fully staffed, on-site Box Office is provided at each performance, offering Will Call services, door sales, and customer service, usually opening one hour before the performance at each ticketed venue.
The Box Office will handle all complimentary ticket requests, special holds and reservations for ticketed organizations (including class lists offering discount or special case tickets), along with any VIP seating requests.
The Box Office will provide sales reports and seating lists at any time, including requests to promoters.
The Box Office will provide marketing assistance through poster displays at point-of-sale, event listings on the Box Office website, phone messages, and full reports on audience for mailing lists and audience demographics.
The Box Office does NOT provide ushering or front of house management services.
The Box Office will provide event reconciliation (targeted to be within two weeks of the event). This includes ticket system reports on sales totals and income, and an Excel spreadsheet detailing gross income and Box Office fees for credit card sales, complimentary ticket services, and full ticketing services. Net receipts are transferred to the ticketed organization through a request to Miami University General Accounting for an interdepartmental transfer. Non-university affiliated organizations will received payment of net receipts through a check issued by the university's Accounts Payable department.

The Miami University Box Office currently charges $1.00 for each ticket sold, deducted from gross receipts at reconciliation.
Organizations are allowed a venue-dependent number of complimentary tickets per performance with no charge. Complimentary tickets exceeding the allowance are charge $0.25 each, deducted from gross receipts at reconciliation.
Current venue limits per performance are: Millett Hall - 25; Hall Auditorium - 25; Theatre - 15 (both Gates-Abegglen & Studio 88); Kumler Chapel - 15; Kelley Auditorium (Presser Hall) - 15.
The Box Office is subject to an average 2% credit card fee from the bank. This fee is passed on to ticketed organizations, multiplying total credit card sales times 0.02. This amount is deducted from gross receipts at reconciliation.
Bulk printed tickets (distributed by the organization) are charged $0.10 each.
These various charges are tabulated on an Excel spreadsheet at reconciliation, provided to the ticketed organization.
Costs to the Ticket Buyer
The Box Office charges the customer a $3.00 service fee per order for phone, mail, or fax orders. The customer may order an unlimited number of tickets for this service fee. In the event a processed order is returned (subject to Supervisor approval), the Box Office will retain this fee. Ticket reprints are a free service to the customer. All online orders do include a scaled per-ticket fee and a flat per-order fee (usually $3.00).
Arena concerts in Millett Hall may have a per-ticket service fee ($1.50 to $3.00) for both in-house & online tickets.

Miami University Box Office Ticketing Services/Procedures
Distribution for Free, Tickets Required Events
The Miami University Box Office offers an alternative to full-service ticketing for organizations requiring ticket distribution services for free events requiring a ticket (normally for capacity control in the selected venue). These events have included the Miami University Lecture Series, various speakers sponsored by the Center for American & World Cultures, and the Academic Leadership Symposium. It is possible to provide a two stage distribution sequence, allowing the Miami University community (faculty/staff/students) first access to available tickets, followed by a period of availability to Miami and the general public. This distribution process offers accommodation to out-of-town or non-university individuals who wish to attend the free event without risking a long trip to campus and a wait in line at the venue, only to find that tickets are not available.
Free, Tickets Required - Distribution Features
The Box Office will work with the sponsoring organization to develop a ticket identifying the event or speaker, title of performance or lecture, date, time, venue, etc.
The Box Office will bulk print complete quantity of tickets to accommodate venue capacity (735 seats in the case of Hall Auditorium), or a portion of total capacity as desired.
[Two Stage Distribution]
At an agreed upon date before the event (5 business days, 4 business days, as defined), tickets will be made available to the Miami University community (or specified audience). Box Office staff will distribute up to two tickets (or specified limit) to individuals appearing at the Box Office in the Shriver Center with proper Miami I.D. Box Office staff will attempt to insure that tickets are distributed equitably, recognizing that it will be difficult to enforce this perfectly to persons who choose to be dishonest.
Two days prior to the scheduled event, tickets will be made available to the general public (in addition to Miami community). Any individual appearing at the Box Office in the Shriver Center may receive two tickets as long as tickets remain available.
Tickets will be distributed from the pre-printed supply. Unlike standard Box Office procedures, no effort will be made to collect ticket recipient information (name, address, phone, etc.).
[Single Stage Distribution]
Same as above, except tickets will be made available to entire public on specified date.
Will Call Features
In an effort to accommodate non-Miami and out-of-town attendees to Free, Tickets Required events, the Box Office will make the following procedures available two days prior to the scheduled event:
Individuals desiring tickets to the Free, Tickets Required event may contact the Miami University Box Office by telephone at 513-529-3200 to reserve up to two tickets. Box Office staff will place tickets in an envelope marked with attendee's name and telephone number.
Individuals desiring tickets to the Free, Tickets Required event may contact the Miami University Box Office by email at boxoffice@MiamiOH.edu to reserve up to two tickets. Box Office staff will place tickets in an envelope marked with attendee's name and email address.
Any tickets not distributed, along with all Will Call envelopes will be collected by a designee of the sponsoring organization prior to the closing of the Box Office on the day of the event. Distribution of remaining ticket inventory and reserved Will Call tickets at the event will be the responsibility of the sponsoring organization and/or Miami University Special Events staff. If specifically contracted, the Box Office can participate in ticket distribution at the event for a billable rate of $15.00 per hour.

The Box Office currently charges $0.25 per distributed ticket and $0.10 for any tickets printed but not distributed by the Box Office.

Payment is made to the Box Office through a university interdepartmental charge to the sponsoring organization's Banner account. The Box Office will provide a reconciliation summary spreadsheet to the organization within one week of the event indicating number of tickets distributed, number of tickets printed but not distributed by the Box Office, and number of Will Call orders. The interdepartmental charge will be initiated by the Box Office to the Miami University General Accounting Office.

There are no additional fees for walk up ticket purchases at the Miami University Box Office in the Shriver Center or at performance venue Box Offices*.
The Box Office charges a $3.00 per-order service charge on all phone, mail, and fax orders. Family (Parents) Weekend orders have a $5.00 service charge.
Online orders have a per-order service charge (see above) and a per-ticket charge ranging from $1.00-$3.00 based upon the price of the ticket. The per-ticket fee covers costs from our online ticketing partner. We are pleased to provide some of the lowest online ticketing costs in the industry.
*Hamilton & Middletown Campus Artist Series tickets are managed entirely through the Box Office's online ticketing software, requiring per-ticket fees to be charged on walk up sales at the Shriver Center. There are no per-ticket fees applied to Hamilton or Middletown Artist Series tickets purchased beginning one hour prior to the performance at Parrish or Finkelman Auditoriums. Hamilton Artist Series tickets are only available for purchase on the Miami University Hamilton campus at performances. Middletown Campus Artist Series are available for purchase at the Cashiers Desk in Johnston Hall on the MUM campus. Artist Series tickets may be purchased by mail for the face value of each ticket plus a $3.00 order fee by sending a check to:

The Miami University Box Office partners with programming organizations to provide admission access (ticketing) services but does not perform booking or performance management duties. The Box Office makes every effort to be knowledgeable about events it services. However, questions or concerns about specific program content, selection, or policies may ultimately require referral to the programming organization.
All online, phone, fax, and mail orders received less than 7 days prior to a performance will be held for pickup at Will Call, which opens at the performance venue Box Office one hour prior to curtain time.
What is Will Call?
Will Call is the place in each venue where you pick up tickets that have been ordered and paid for in advance. The name comes from the old name for the layaway department at large stores, where people could make a deposit on a large purchase and 'call' for it when it was paid in full. Will Call pickup is located at the Box Office at each performance venue.
Tickets may be exchanged, subject to availability, up to closing time at the Miami University Box Office in the Shriver Center on the business day closest to the performance (Day-of for weekday shows, Friday for weekend shows). Ticket exchange requests at performance venue Box Offices will be handled at the management's discretion. Tickets may not be exchanged from a performance which has already taken place and may not be permitted by certain programming organizations.
Lost/misplaced tickets may be reissued. Contact the Box Office at 513-529-3200 to have duplicate tickets waiting for you at Will Call. Duplicate tickets cannot be mailed.
Due to the nature of performing arts, changes may occur in artists, programs, and performance times. In almost all cases, ticket sales are final. An exception to this would be if an event is cancelled outright. The Box Office will honor the refund policy of the programming organization.
All Miami University performance venues have handicap accessible seating. Please contact the Box Office at 513-529-3200 if you need to request accessible seating due to mobility, visual, or hearing impairments. Accessible seating may not be ordered online. Assistive listening devices and sign language interpretation may be requested through the Miami University Office of Disability Resources at 513-529-1541, with a minimum of 48 hours notice.
Children of all ages are welcome to attend performances at Miami University. The majority of programming organizations require that an attending child have their own ticket, regardless of age. Parents/accompanying adults are asked to be mindful of others in attendance when bringing a child, and please remove the child from the auditorium/theatre should they be unable to sit through a performance without disturbing others. Certain performance content may require parental discretion. The Box Office will attempt to make this known in such cases, but please ask should you have any questions.
Not permitted in performance venues unless explicitly allowed by the programming organization/artist. Requests should be submitted at least 48 hours in advance to allow opportunity to communicate with artist management and programming organization.
Patrons who arrive late will be seated at the discretion of the House Manager. Latecomers may be asked to wait in the lobby until a predetermined time in the program, when they will be seated by ushers, and could possibly not be seated in their assigned seats until intermission.
The Box Office provides ticketing services for a number of events which are free, but require a ticket to be issued for capacity control. The Miami University Lecture Series (4 events annually at Hall Auditorium) is the principle client utilizing this service. Free lectures held at Millett Hall do not require tickets.
Lecture Series Ticketing Procedure: Tickets become available to the Miami University community (faculty/staff, students) at 8:00 am on the Wednesday prior to the Monday evening lecture, with a limit of two tickets maximum per Miami University ID. Miami community member tickets may be requested in person at the Box Office with display of Miami ID, or by phone by providing the requester's Miami Unique ID (as in email address). If tickets remain available, they may be obtained by the general public beginning at 8:00 am on the Friday prior to the Monday evening lecture, again, two per request, either in person or by phone. Tickets requested in advance by phone and any remaining undistributed tickets will be available at Hall Auditorium beginning at 7:00 pm on the evening of the lecture.
When a Lecture Series event is Sold Out: All Lecture Series tickets state 'Ticketholders must be seated by 7:55 pm or may forfeit their right to this seat.' Individuals without tickets may arrive any time after 7:00 pm at Hall Auditorium prior to the lecture and wait in line for available unfilled seats. At 7:55 pm Lecture Series staff will begin filling empty seats with individuals waiting in line. This process has often allowed a high percentage of individuals waiting without tickets to be seated.
The Box Office does not re-sell unclaimed Will Call tickets. For certain events, a small number of seats are held as 'Director' or 'Performer' holds which may not be released until just before showtime. If such seats are present for an otherwise sold out performance, the following practice will govern their release for sale, unless otherwise directed by the programming organization:
One Hour Prior to Curtain (when the performance venue Box Office opens): Box Office staff will begin taking a waiting list for the available seats. This list will only be started on site at the performance venue.
One Half Hour Prior to Curtain: Beginning with the first name on the list, the Box Office will sell half of the available held seats to individuals whose names are on the list AND WHO ARE PRESENT.
15 Minutes Prior to Curtain: Beginning with the next name on the list, the Box Office will sell all remaining available seats to individuals whose names are on the list AND WHO ARE PRESENT until all remaining seat inventory is sold.
