Please note, 2010-2011 room selection for current first-year students will occur in early Spring. You will receive more information as second semester approaches.
2010-2011 Upper-Class Room Selection ProcessSelecting your room is easy! Just use your
www.muohio.edu/MyCard account to choose a room, search for private rooms, pull in roommates, and make your own room changes.
At this time, all current second, third, or fourth year students may select from any open upper-class room on campus for next year. Simply
log-on to your MyCard Account to view floorplans and sign-up for a room. On October 26, at 9am, our online request list for Single Rooms and Premier Single Rooms will be available through your MyCard Account.
Waiting List
Due to the second year requirement, we will be required to hold back a predetermined number of rooms for our rising second year residents. If you are unable to select a room, you will have the option of signing up to be on our Housing Waiting List. After our current first-year students select their rooms in March, we will notify you with our additional availability.
FAQ
Q. How long is my room held after I select it?
A. You will have 24 hours after selecting your room to complete your contract. If you do not complete your contract within that time, the room will be released to other students. Please remember that "choosing" your room is only the first step. You must fully complete and e-sign your contract within 24 hours.
Q. If I choose same room selection, when can I invite a new roommate?
A. If your current roommate has not chosen same room as well, then on September 15 at 9AM you may begin to invite a new roommate.
Q. How long can I hold a space in my room to invite a roommate?
A. After selecting a room, we will automatically hold any additional beds in your room or apartment (assuming it is unoccupied at the time) for 20 minutes to allow you have time to complete your contract and then invite your roommate(s). You must complete your contract prior to inviting a roommate(s).
Q. I invited my friend to be my roommate. How long do they have to confirm?
A. After being invited, a roommate has 24 hours to complete their contract. If they do not confirm by signing their contract online, then the invitation is void after 24 hours, and the bed will automatically be entered back into the general selection process.
Q. Can I invite a current off-campus student to be my roommate?
A. Yes.
Q. I have a medical need for an Air Conditioning unit. When is the application deadline to be guaranteed one?
A. Students must notify us by May 15 if they have medical need for A/C. You may either be placed in an air-conditioned hall upon request (as availability permits), or rent a university owned A/C unit at the cost of $300 per academic year.
Q. How long do I have to cancel my housing contract?
A. There is a 7-day cancellation period. You have up to 7 days after signing your contract to cancel. After 7 days, the contract becomes legally binding.
Q. I am relocating to Oxford from another campus. When can I select a room?
A. Relocation students should contact our office to inquire about on-campus housing.
Q. When can returning study abroad students select a room?
A. These students may select a room during the appropriate time slot, based upon how many semesters they have lived on campus.
Q. I plan to study abroad one semester, should I live in Heritage Commons?
A. No. If you plan to take part in a program that is away from campus, you should not live in Heritage Commons. Heritage Commons contracts are different than traditional Residence Hall Contracts. Visit our "Policies" page to read provisions for both contracts.
Q. Why do current second-year students get to select their room before juniors and seniors?
A. This change will allow us to fall in line with the University's new mission to nurture and develop the younger students by keeping them engaged on campus. Because the university is focusing its efforts on giving the less experienced students more support, it follows that those students should be given the priority when selecting an on-campus room/apartment. Space will be reserved for the current First Year students who will select their rooms during Spring Semester.
