Standing on the former site of old Fisher Hall since 1982, construction of the Timothy Marcum Memorial Conference Center was funded solely by private and corporate donations; the largest gift coming from the family of Timothy Marcum, a young Miami University graduate, who died tragically in an automobile accident in the summer of 1973. The building is a replica of The Wren Building, the oldest functioning academic building in the United States at the College of William & Mary in historic Williamsburg, Virginia.
Built in 1986, the Miami Inn was originally a privately owned hotel with 52 overnight guest rooms, approximately 1,600 square feet of meeting space and a cozy tavern and fireplace. In 1991, the University bought the Miami Inn and merged the properties. With a total of 92 comfortable guest rooms and nearly 13,000 square feet of elegant meeting and banquet space, The Marcum & Miami Inn is a popular site for conferences, training workshops, meetings, wedding receptions, banquets and overnight stays. A distraction-free environment, elegant facilities, beautiful gardens and grounds, and affordable pricing have made our property a favorite location since 1982. Also, as part of Miami University, we offer a wide range of recreational and cultural activities.
In order to promote the health of our students, faculty, staff & visitors, all Miami University campuses are designated Smoke-Free Environments, effective August 1, 2008. Smoking is prohibited in all University owned facilities and grounds. Smoking is only permitted in personal automobiles. The only exception will be designated smoking areas for guests staying at the Miami Inn and The Marcum.
