Laundry Service


Let us do your laundry for you!

  • Weekly service provided.
  • We will provide you with a laundry bag and lock that can hold up to 20 pounds of laundry.
  • You will deliver your laundry bag to the laundry room in your residence hall or apartment and secure it to a cable on a designated day.
  • Your laundry will be washed, dried, neatly folded, wrapped in plastic and returned on your scheduled laundry day.
  • Your Hall Manager will inform you of your designated laundry day when you receive your bag and lock upon move-in.

Terms & Conditions


Procedure and Terms:

Housing, Dining, Recreation and Business Services (HDRBS) will provide each student who participates in our Student Laundry Service with a securable laundry bag. The student agrees not to include any of the following items inside the laundry bag: (i) non-washable items, (ii) items that are labeled for hand washing and/or dry-cleaning only, or (iii) any other items not meant for laundering. The student is responsible for ensuring that his/her HDRBS laundry bag is secured to the laundry cable in the laundry room of their assigned residence hall.

The Miami-Laundry bag is required:

Customers may ONLY use the laundry bag provided by Miami. If initial bag given to the customer is lost, the customer must purchase a replacement for $25.00 in order to continue service. However, if the bag is damaged by Miami Laundry Service the bag will be replaced by Miami at no expense to the customer. Miami will not wash clothing that is not bagged in the issued laundry bag.


Laundry will be washed, dried, folded and wrapped in plastic and returned within 24 hours of the scheduled laundry day.

Missed/Unattended Pickup or Delivery:

If the student misses their regularly scheduled laundry day, the student will forfeit the service for that week and will not be reimbursed.

Misdelivered bags- Any bag that is delivered to the wrong room by a Miami employee is considered misdelivered, up to two weeks will be allowed in order for proper delivery to occur before being considered as lost. Only after two weeks will a reimbursement of lost clothing be given, and it will be no more than the cost of the customer's sign-up fee.

Laundry Schedule:

Laundry will be processed on an assigned day each week, except on certain holidays determined by the university calendar. Each student is allowed one (1) laundry bag per week. HDRBS reserves the right to determine the weekly schedule and in its sole discretion and reserves the right to reschedule weekly service upon prior notice to the student.

Payment:

The fee ($349/semester) for the Student Laundry Service will be posted to your student account, via the Bursar. Services that have been paid for but go unused do not carry over from week-to-week, or from service term to service term. HDRBS will not provide a refund for any under-utilization of services. Except as described in the next two paragraphs, all sales are final and all payments are non-refundable.

Potential Fines:

Overstuffing- this happens when the laundry owned and worn by the customer is stuffed into the laundry bag, exceeding reasonable Miami standards with regards to weekly laundry service. A bag is considered overstuffed if a Miami employee is unable to close the bag with the grommets in the bag in order to guarantee that no clothes will fall out of the bag. If the bag weighs considerably more than 20lbs, it may also be considered overstuffed and is subject to the manager's discretion. Miami reserves the right to automatically bill the customer $25 for each incident. Repeat violators will be in jeopardy of having this contract terminated. If the contract is terminated, customers will be notified by email. The customer will be given a grace period for the first week of service in which no fines will be charged. The customer will receive one warning prior to a fine being charged.




Refunds:

A student who has signed up the Student Laundry Service will have the right to cancel his or her contract within fourteen (14) days of signing this agreement and receive a full refund, less a $25.00 processing fee to cover operational expenses. After the fourteen-day period, HDRBS shall have no obligation to refund any amounts paid by the student. A $30.00 charge will be assessed for lock replacements. A $25.00 charge will be assessed for laundry bag replacement.

In case of extenuating circumstances in which the customer is unable to redeem their laundry contract (i.e. study abroad, or time away from the university) refunds will be based on the fraction of the contract remaining.


Garment Care:

HDRBS will use reasonable efforts to maintain a high quality cleaning service. HDRBS does not accept liability for damage due to normal cleaning of items without care instructions, nor accepts liability for items treated in accordance with the care labels or other instructions provided. All clothes are washed in cold water and dried under permanent press heat. Whites and colors are not separated. HDRBS accepts no liability for "special care" items that require special attention. HDRBS is not responsible for clothing bleeding, shrinking, or otherwise changing as a result of normal washing procedures. Including any items left in customer's bag or pockets which may explode during the cleaning process such as pens, lipstick, chap-stick, etc. Precautions will be taken to alleviate these problems if possible. HDRBS reserves the right to refuse to clean any garment. HDRBS does not guarantee the removal of all stains. HDRBS will have its cleaning service re-clean items that, in its sole discretion, were not properly cleaned and have not been worn since they were cleaned. HDRBS is not responsible for loss of or damage to any personal or non-cleanable items left in the clothing or laundry bags such as money, jewelry, or any other item. The customer agrees not to leave such items in its clothing or in its laundry bags.


Loss or Damage:

Miami will not assume responsibility for laundry lost or stolen while waiting to be washed. Miami will only assume responsibility if the laundry is lost or stolen while in the possession of Miami Laundry Service (from the time the laundry bag is picked up to the time of delivery).


In the rare instance that your garment is lost or damaged by HDRBS, the student may file a claim through the Ohio Court of Claims. HDRBS is not liable for any preexisting damage to garments. If we find any preexisting damage or have a concern about the colorfastness, or the age or weakness of the fabric, we will contact you to obtain your approval before proceeding to care for the item. If we are unable to obtain your authorization in a timely manner, then we may return the item without cleaning it. Missing or damaged items must be reported to us within three (3) days of delivery of the item(s).


Cost: $349.00 per semester
